Tired of My Jeans Wearing Out!! (How to keep those jeans living long!)

I AM SOOO TIRED OF MY JEANS WEARING OUT!!!

I can only blame myself for buying cheap jeans that probably wouldn't last to long in the first place, but can't a sista' get a little longevity? I've decided to go ahead and thrift the next set I'm buying so that I can buy the better quality brands. But in the mean time, I was looking for ways to increase the life span of my jeans and I found this suggestion in a forum:

"May I suggest that you try to get as much life as possible life out of your cloth by altering your washing procedure?
Here's my rules for washing denim:
1) Wash only when you absolutely have to. I wash my jeans maybe once a month in the summer and stretch it out longer in the winter, maybe once every four months. This may sound gross, but I let my pants hang up between washings so they can air out, it keeps them reasonable for public occasions. A cold water soak (no detergent or agitation) can do wonders also.
2) When I must wash, I wash them inside-out cold water in Woolite Dark Colors detergent on gentle. Some argue that you shouldn't put them on spin, I'm not quite that hard core.
3) Never, ever put them in the dryer. Let them air dry.
I can keep a pair of Levi's going for 2 years using this procedure, and my APC's still look brand new."

Some other suggestions included smearing all-purpose glue on the area that is most susceptible to wear, or sewing on iron-on patches (then ironing the area). I'm Trying all of these!! going to get around to trying some of these techniques.
How do you keep your jeans alive?

The rant about standing out

It's ridiculous that so many years after the civil rights movement black people (As a whole) are still having a hard time identifying themselves. Well, I've got a message for my nation. The color of your skin is not who you are, its WHAT you are. It seems to me that a large number of the black people I know think that the music they listen to, the way that they dress and speak define how black they are. News flash: Got honey colored skin? Hip-hop WILL NOT turn it to a darker shade of chocolate. Got chocolate colored skin? Speaking properly WILL NOT change it into the lightest shade of caramel. If you were born black you will die black. Then apart from the people who try to define the color of their skin, there are the people who let the color of their skin define them. Being black does not equal glass ceilings. I can't tell you how many people have cheated themselves out of success, all because they were convinced the the color of their skin would keep them back. Before we are black, we are men and women and each one of us is different. So switch it up, be unique, and dude: its okay to be that one black kid

That One Black (Vegetarian) Kid

Yes, I am black. Yes, I am a vegetarian.
I don't know what annoys me more, the serious shock that I don't enjoy a bucket of fried chicken daily, or the "But aren't you from the caribbean?" quips that follow.

Do you know what makes life even better?

Most people actually have the nerve to ask if I didn't like chicken.

And the audience goes, "No way!"

Yes way.

Here's my deal: My mother became a vegetarian when she was 10 years old and as a result, I was literally born a lacto-ovo vegetarian (Vegetarian who eats dairy products). So roll in the questions boys:

Do you do it for the animals?

No

Are you a health freak?

Nope

I will now take the opportunity to declare that not all vegetarians are white, tree-hugging, animal-loving, ego maniacs. Vegetarians come from all races, religions, and personalities. And so after a good rant, I sign out.

That One Black (...) Kid

I thank the author of this masterpiece for pointing out what us black kids go through on an (almost) regular basis. Of course, by "us black kids" I mean the many "One black kids" out there who can identify with this comic, but back to the train of thought, Keith, Thanks alot! It's ridiculous that so many years after the civil rights movement black people (As a whole) are still having a hard time identifying themselves. Well I got a message for my nation. The color of your skin, is not who you are, its WHAT you are. Before we are black, we are men and women and each one of us is different. As for my one black kids out there, keep representing who you are!

.......You can go now.........
